Free/Reduced Lunch 2022-23 School Year
Posted on 08/04/2022
The last two years Southwestern Schools received a federal grant allowing all students to receive FREE lunch. The USDA is no longer providing this grant, so we are back to the "pre-COVID" system of PAID, REDUCED or FREE meals, which is based on the free/reduced application (filled out by parents/guardians) and Direct Certification from the state. For students that do not qualify for free/reduced lunches, the price is $1.80 at the elementary school and $2.05 at the middle-high school. We will NEVER deny students a meal, regardless of free/reduced status, negative account balances, etc. Breakfast is FREE for ALL students. A la carte items (chips, drinks other than milk, ice cream, etc.) are not included with lunch, so these things cost extra. If you have any questions, please contact Katie King at [email protected] or 812-866-6254.
It is important that all students complete a Free/Reduced Lunch application. Many of our school programs and grants are dependent on the percentage of Free/Reduced lunch students we have. However, this application is optional for your to complete. School personnel will not be able to view any of your personal information. They will only know if your student is eligible for Free or Reduced lunches.
The application can be found in the Harmony Family Access portal. There you can complete one for each of your students. We appreciate your help with this program.
